Peaks Island House

I painted this small landscape (islandscape?) during my week's stay on Peaks Island, Maine this past summer. I remember that I'd been frustrated with the painting, thinking it fell short in capturing the charm and beauty of the  small island house in shadow, encircled by the sparkling blue of the Casco Bay.

But as sometimes happens, time passes, and I now find that this older work has a certain something that I like. Painting can't compete with nature, but it can have its own independent charm, if you know what I mean.

Your paintings are darling. Thanks for having such a lovely blog. Please accept my nomination for the Liebster Award. It was a fun little award I was awarded recently and as part of the deal I must pay it forward.

The details are on my blog.

I spent a week on Peaks Island years ago. You captured its sloping-down-to-the-water quality, and there is no doubt you are in Maine. Next trip, Monhegan! We spend time there every - would be great to paint with you. Happy New Year!
