Thirty Eight

oil on board 7"x6.5"

This cow is only known by her number.

I'm not sure how successful this painting is, but for me, part of the purpose of having a blog is to post something while it's still wet, before I've had time to let the painting settle, so to speak. The photo that I used had interesting color, but I'm concerned that the values may not have been the best- too broken up everywhere.

I've been preparing to teach four separate art classes (8 to 10 sessions each), and an all day workshop, so haven't had enough time for painting lately.

Moo.

Oh but Taryn she is absolutely lovely!! I love the broken colors and there seems to be a clear definition of values to me. Funny thing is I *almost* chose to paint a cow today but went with something else instead. But soon! Cow it up I will!

I think this is very successful indeed! I love her level gaze-- straight at us. She draws us in and we want to stay awhile. It's just great!

Hi Taryn,
Where do you teach?
This painting was done well.

Thanks Crystal, Ann and Sue. Sue, I'm teaching locally (an hour north of Philly) at adult evening schools and a local art center, plus in late Jan. offering a workshop in Yardley. There is a link at the top of this blog to my classes.

You have captured the massiveness of the animal here. I really like that.
