Van Gogh, Large Man, Cezanne

oil on board 7" x 6.9"

I never get tired of painting people looking at Van Gogh's Sunflowers, but this one was particularly fun. This guy was visiting the Philadelphia Art Museum with a lady friend, who was attired in a leopard spotted blouse, but I didn't include her because I thought a simpler composition was stronger.

  1. What a story this painting tells! Your eye for a story is wonderful, and the way you portray people doing what they normally do, is perfect! Congratulations on a great piece!

  3. you have way too much talent to be following in the shadow of Jurick, who pretty much owns this genre of painting on the daily painting circuit.. Why be a second rate jurick when you can be a first rate Day? I suggest to find your own voice. Love your large tabletop paintings btw
