This is my sister Leah, always at home on a boat.
I like painting with a large brush, and I like painting by simplifying form. This can be a problem when I paint someone I know, because to try and get a good likeness it seems I have to resort to my size #1 and #2 brushes. I am looking forward to getting back to my size #10 and #12s!
Wow! What a fantastic portrait. You have captured the out-doorsiness. I'm sure that is not a word but you know what I mean. Love the loose approach and the reflected colors in her face. Who would think green would be a good color for a woman's portrait?
ReplyDeleteYes it seems to do a portrait on such a small format, the small brushes become your tools. I prefer big brushes too. This is very nice.
ReplyDeleteI love this portrait Taryn. It really jumped out at me on the DPW site. I'm signing up to follow your blog-- looking forward to more!

ReplyDeletevery good, even if i would prefer better in the eyes, perhaps something white, something sparkling!

ReplyDeleteCongratulations for the MAM Award. This portrait deserves it - well, all your work, fresh and strong, spontaneous and built, modern and classic, deserves it.
