It feels like I spent forever on this, but it was only about two and a half weeks. The blue table gave me a devil of a time, but the flowers came much more easily.
I think now I'll paint something more quickly. It seems I need a balance of approaches to keep sane in the studio.
I think balancing larger work followed by smaller work it a process I want to embrace too. Your paintings give me such a sense of calm. Actually I would call it "well being". Because everything is so carefully balanced and in perfect harmony. My eyes appreciate this and then I get an emotional chord behind that and suddenly I can breathe more deeply.
ReplyDeleteVery nicely done. All the work that you put into this gives it a monumental quality - it feels much larger than 6" x 12"!
ReplyDeleteFantastic painting. Esp the flowers. The solidity is tangible on them and the vase....only a fine eye can do it like that. I can't tell definitely from the small image but the refinement on the flowers and the grey control reminds me of latour's work.
ReplyDeleteOne thing I would highly recommend to you STOP AUCTIONING OR SELLING THESE MAJOR WORKS ON DPW!! Or any internet site that features Elvis and purple mermaids/unicorns. Get these into galleries that repeat good work. When you auction work like this on chintzy websites it makes ppl second guess you. Art this good should only be available at quality brick/mortar galleries or directly via you. Giving away a painting like this on DPW is criminal, and getting 1 or 2 bids is just another demotivating kick in the nuts.
