Virginia Landscape

Virginia Landscape
oil on mat board

This is a study I painted one lovely afternoon in the Charlottesville, Virginia area a while back. The overcast skies brought out the full beauty of the different qualities of green in the landscape.

  1. THis is another piece that needs to be seen full screen.
The slightly muted palette evokes classic landscape
paintings. These one session pieces allow the artist
to appear more clearly to the viewer, since the hand and movement are unburnished by "fixes" and working over. I think we respond in a more feeling way to
such elements, but it is rare these days to arrive at this loose point AFTER developing great technique.
